Company Info

CUSTOM DECKS is a design and build organization with the goal of building the finest and most enjoyable carefree outdoor structures you can dream up as well as providing you with products you want or need.

Started by carpenter Kevin Michael Collins who learned the building basics from his father William T. Collins and a lumber and sawmill workers union in southern Oregon.  He also worked and studied his trade with carpenters and contractors responsible for the reconstruction of  Frank Lloyd Wright designed homes in Oakpark, Illinois.  His first deck was a massive treated wood structure that resembled the back of a yacht in Bolingbrook, Illinois. The company relocated to Fort Worth in 1984 and change the name to Renovations by Kevin M. Collins after completing several renovations including a home listed on the national register of historic places.

As the need for professionally built decks became apparent, Custom Decks was created as a division of Renovations by KMC.

The web administrator wanted me to write something about what I do and why I do it, so here it goes.

I make stuff. As simple as it sounds, that's what I do. I make things to the highest standards I am aware of and I enjoy it in the process. We all have to live with the products of our making so why not make things we all can enjoy and feel good about. And most of all enjoy what you do while your doing it or do something else. That is why I do what I do.
